Support > Turning off Steady State Disk Protect

If your system (serial number 230 or above) has Steady State installed - here's the steps to turn it off so you can make permanent changes to your system.

SteadyState Main Menu
  1. Enter the Steady State Admin user account (usually SchoolmateAdmin) - using the password provided with your shipping materials for the system.
  2. Click Start Menu - Launch Steady State
  3. Choose "Protect the Hard Disk" from main menu options.
  4. On hard disk protect options menu -select option for "Retain All Changes Permanently".
  5. Close Steady State.

System will now retain any changes, program additions etc made upon restart instead of removing. Don't forget, this includes any viruses, or unwanted additions by both unwitting and poorly intentioned users....so, we strongly recommend turning steady state back on after making desired permanent changes.

  1. Make any desired Permanent changes to the system.
  2. Reboot
  3. Click Start Menu - Launch Steady State
  4. Choose "Protect the Hard Disk" from main menu options.
  5. On hard disk protect options menu -select option for "Remove Changes upon Restart".
